CMA program

Medication aide is a person who has completed specific state- approved training and passed the OSBN exam in order to administer medications to patients. Often, this person is already an experienced certified nursing assistant (CNA). This clinical role operates under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or Licenced practical /Vocational nurse (LPN/LVN)


In Oregon. Certified medication Aide must complete an OSBN-approved medication aide training program, pass a competency examination approved by the OSBN, and receive CMA certification before administering medication.

 

MA training program prerequisite and eligibility


All students must be at least 18 yrs of age to register into the MA program
All students must be able to read, comprehend, speak and write in English at the sixth grade level or above
All students must complete a state and national background check
All students must certify on a student statement of Good health form prior to the first day of class that they are free from contagious diseases, physically and mentally fit, able to successfully participate In skills, labs and clinicals and performs duties of MA safely without risk to the health of others or themselves.
All students must sign a statement they have received the Gracestar program packet prior to registering into the schools MA program.
